Happy Caturday!
Usually, when I pick up my yarn and hook, it’s with someone else in mind.
A baby blanket for a new arrival. A tiny sweater for our close friends’ baby daughter. My hands move out of love for others and honestly, that’s one of the things I treasure most about crochet. It’s a way to wrap people in care when words sometimes fall short.
But this time… it’s different.
This time, I’m making something just for me.
I’m currently working on the Rosewood Cardigan designed by All About Ami, one of my favorite crochet designers. It’s soft, flowing, and everything I want to feel wrapped in after long days spent fighting for justice and navigating life’s big hopes and small miracles.
Choosing to make something for myself felt almost rebellious at first. It was almost like I was taking yarn away from someone more “worthy” of the effort.
But, I’m realizing that making something for myself isn’t selfish.
It’s necessary.
It’s a way of honoring my own needs. It’s a small, tangible reminder that I deserve warmth, comfort, and softness too and not just when everything is finished or everyone else is cared for, but right here. Right NOW.
The cardigan is coming along slowly. And honestly? I love that.
It’s a slow gift to myself. A stitch-by-stitch promise that I am worth the time it takes.
🧶 Progress Update:
- Gauge: 19 rows = 4 inches
- Current rows completed: 25 rows
- Approximate progress: 20% of the back panel
Slow but steady. Just like every good thing worth waiting for.
🧵 Call to Action:
Have you ever made something just for yourself?
Or is there something you’re dreaming of creating, just because you deserve it?
I’d love to hear about it—share it with me in the comments!
